Two specs, not one
SpecificationPrinted photo ≠ online-renewal digital photo
Canada’s requirements for a printed application photo and an online-renewal digital photo are two different specifications. We prepare the correct version for the way you’re actually applying.

What IRCC checks
Canadian standardEvery photo, checked against the standard before you leave.
Canada’s IRCC has specific requirements for printed passport photos. We verify each one on-site — you never print at home or guess whether it passes.
- 01Size — 50 × 70 mm (approx. 2 × 2¾ in)
- 02Background — plain white or off-white, no patterns or shadows
- 03Expression — neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and to camera
- 04Glasses — IRCC (2026) accepts clear prescription glasses if your eyes are fully visible with no glare; tinted lenses & sunglasses are not
- 05Recency — taken within the last 6 months
- 06Print quality — no pixelation, inkjet smearing or red-eye
- 07Ears & framing — both ears visible, head centred, no tilt
Rejected elsewhere?
RetakePassport or PR photo rejected?
Bring the rejection notice. We regularly help clients who come to us after a passport, PR card, or immigration photo was rejected elsewhere. We read the rejection reason, check what went wrong, and — if the problem is the photo itself — reshoot it correctly.
Our standing policy: we check compliance before you leave, and if a photo-related issue causes a rejection, we retake it free.
What we check on a reshoot
- ADimensions & crop ratio
- BHead position & size
- CBackground & shadows
- DLighting & skin tone
- EPrint quality
- FDocument-specific requirements
